Beverley Slater - Improvement Academy Director

Beverley provides overall leadership to the Improvement Academy team and directs the Academy work programme.

Prof John Wright - Clinical Director

John is a clinical epidemiologist with a background in hospital medicine and public health. He represents the Improvement Academy on the AHSN Executive team.

Alison Lovatt - Clinical Improvement Network Director

Alison's focus is on supporting frontline clinicians to improve Patient Safety. She leads the Clinical Network for the Academy’s 70 Improvement Fellows.

Dr Michael McCooe - Associate Clinical Director

Michael is a Consultant in Anaesthetics and ICU at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and Associate Clinical Director at the Improvement Academy.

Prof Rebecca Lawton - Academic Advisor

Rebecca is Professor in Psychology of Healthcare at the University of Leeds and leads the Quality and Safety Research team at Bradford Institute for Health Research.

Prof Mohammed Mohammed - Academic Advisor

Mohammed is Professor of Healthcare, Quality & Effectiveness in the School of Health Studies at the University of Bradford and Deputy Director of the Bradford Institute for Health Research.

Gail Opio-Te - Clinical Leadership Fellow

Gail is a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse who is currently working on secondment as a Clinical Leadership Fellow with the Improvement Academy.

Dr Stefan Williams - Clinical Leadership Fellow

Stefan is a neurology registrar currently working with the Improvement Academy as a Clinical Leadership Fellow.

Sarah De-Biase - Improvement Programme Manager

Sarah is the Improvement Programme Manager for the Yorkshire and Humber AHSN Improvement Academy Healthy Ageing Collaborative.

Abimbola Olusoga - Clinical Leadership Fellow

Abimbola is an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist currently on a one-year secondment as a Clinical Leadership Fellow with the Improvement Academy

Dr Usha Appalsawmy - Clinical Leadership Fellow

Usha is a Renal Registrar with the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery currently doing a year as a Clinical Leadership Fellow at the Improvement Academy.

Joanna Gibson - Clinical Leadership Fellow

Joanna is a registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and she is currently working at the Improvement Academy as a Clinical Leadership Fellow.

Dr Paul Ashwood

Paul is a Palliative Medicine Registrar working currently undertaking a one year apprenticeship as a Patient Safety Leadership Fellow at the AHSN Improvement Academy.

Dr Libby Slemeck - Clinical Leadership Fellow

Libby is an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Registrar, working with the Improvement Academy as a Clinical Leadership Fellow. Libby is currently on Maternity leave.

Dr Claire Marsh - Patient & Public Engagement Lead

Dr Claire Marsh leads PPE in the Improvement Academy, supporting staff to enhance the patient and public voice in their work.

Mel Johnson - PSC Programme Manager

Mel's role is to develop the Patent Safety Collaborative, ensuring objectives are met and achievements are built on, whilst also working on the AKI Scaling Up project.

Michael Rooney - Senior Improvement Analyst

Michael has a background in analysis and Information Technology, with an interest in new approaches.

Sally-Anne Wilson - PRASE Project Manage

Sally-Anne joined the team in September 2016. Her main aim is to help front line teams use the PRASE feedback to improve patient care.

Shahima Begum - Admin Assistant

Shahima provides Administrative Support to the IA Team, and supports the coordination of events and Patient Safety research projects.

Tania King - Project Manager

Tania is the Improvement Programme Manager for the Patient Flow programme of work.

Jane Hudson - Team Administrator

Jane provides administrative support to the Huddle Up for Safer Healthcare (HUSH) project and is also the first point of contact for the on-line Bronze Quality Improvement Training.

Vicky Padgett - Project Manager

Vicky's work with the Improvement Academy focuses on the HUSH (Huddle Up for Safer Healthcare) project as Project Manager.

Natalie Jackson - Project Manager

Natalie joined the Improvement Academy in May 2015 as project manager for the CARS project

Jackie Hallam - Project Manager

Jackie joined the Academy in July 2015 as Project Manager for the Measurement and Monitoring of Safety, and the PM role for the Dementia project.

Jaspal Bagral - Improvement Analyst

Jaspal provides analytical support to improvement projects, specialising in creative data visuals and alternative representation of data.

Liz Watson - Project Manager

Liz joined the Improvement Academy in May 2014, and is currently working as a Project Manager.

Debbie Clark - Academic Improvement Fellow

Debbie's work at the Improvement Academy includes the development of a Bronze level on-line Human Factors training package.

Naomi Quinton - Lecturer in Medical Education

Naomi is currently addressing how Quality Improvement is understood and incorporated in healthcare professional education.

Judith Dyson - Academic Improvement Fellow

Judith's work at the Improvement Academy includes half a day a week supporting front line teams in applying behaviour change techniques.

Tony Jamieson - Medicines Safety Improvement Lead

Tony leads the Improvement Academy’s work on all aspects of medicines use and medicines safety.

Maureen McGeorge - Interim Programme Manager

Maureen joined the Improvement Academy in August 2014. An experienced Improvement Advisor, she works across all Academy programmes.
