Maureen began her working career as a residential worker in services for people with learning disability. From there, she gained wide and extensive experience of working in different roles related to improving service quality in general and the patients’ experience in particular. She spent many years working with the Royal College of Psychiatrists where she led the development and management of several national clinical audit and service accreditation programmes. With Scope, she managed quality across their contracted residential and day care services. She has also worked in primary care managing a cross-city initiative to improve the management of stroke, in acute medicine as a King’s Fund fellow on their Patients and Families Centred Care programme, and as a regional project manager for the Patients’ Association.

In 2012, she qualified as an Improvement Advisor with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and has since enjoyed applying these new skills to her work with teams from mental health and acute trusts.

Maureen joined the Improvement Academy in August 2014.
