Clinical Leadership Fellow 2014-2015
Vicky was a Trainee Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology who took a year out of training to work with the Improvement Academy as a Clinical Leadership Fellow.
Vicky joined the team in June 2014, she was working on a number of Improvement projects across the region, including: the use of safety huddles and safety culture assessment to enhance patient safety in hospitals; improving urgent care, specifically looking at the use of senior doctor triage; development of a Quality Observatory at the Improvement Academy.
Vicky left the team in November 2015 and has returned to clinical practice.
Vicky shared some reflections at the end of her year working with the Improvement Academy as a Clinical Leadership Fellow:
My time as a leadership fellow at the Improvement Academy was a fantastic opportunity to learn about patient safety and quality improvement from experts in the region and beyond. I have gained the vital skills to continue this work back in my hospital placements. In addition, I have learnt through experiencing others leadership styles and knowledge from the PGCert in Medical Leadership what kind of leader I am and had the opportunity to practice and develop these skills as a programme manager for a regional project, part of a national programme with the Health Foundation. I have experienced how to bring about change through involvement in developing and running a number of regional projects, and am inspired to continue this work throughout my future career.
Our partnerships are centred in the Yorkshire and Humber region but extend nationally. We are continuously developing our partnerships and relationships with health and care organisations.
