Iona came from a community background, so was able to bring an outsider’s view to the team’s work into the Emergency Department checklist, a tool to support safety and patient flow in Emergency Departments. She also had an interest in developing QI skills, and is supporting the QI training the Academy delivers.

Iona was also involved in an ongoing project supporting ‘second victims of error’, clinicians who are affected professionally or personally through a patient safety incident. Iona supported the successful development and launch of a website for second victims and their colleagues to access.
