“Attending the Silver Quality Improvement Training has introduced me to use a more standardised approach to planning a project.”.
Tracey Kershaw is a Quality and Safety Lead at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust. Tracey is a qualified nurse and currently works in the Quality and safety team at her organisation. She manages the incident reporting system, trend and theme analysis, serious incident reporting process, coroners work, and supporting learning and improvement from incidents. Her current role is becoming more focused on learning from positive outcomes and so she has recently picked up a project to develop Excellence Reporting within the Trust.
Since attending the Silver Quality Improvement Training, Tracey is now looking at the approach she is taking to her Excellence Reporting project and the tools that she is using. Tracey wants to use a more standardised approach to planning the project rather than writing it on the back of a postage stamp! The Improvement Planning Sheet, which was included in the delegate pack at the course, has been a great support tool and has helped Tracey focus her mind. Tracey’s key learning from the day was: to get the best out of a project you need to plan it properly.
Tracey aims to revisit the current outcome for her Excellence Reporting project and to review this using a quality improvement tool approach which she was introduced to on the Silver Quality Improvement Training day.
Tracey attended the Improvement Academy Silver Quality Improvement Training day, funded through the Yorkshire and Humber AHSN on 23rd May 2018.
