Tony Jamieson - Medicines Safety Improvement Lead

Tony Jamieson has been the lead for the AHSN and Improvement Academy’s on all aspects of medicines use and medicines safety since November 2013.

Tony is a qualified pharmacist, whose career has focussed on protecting patients from harm. Starting his career in community pharmacy, he has been Secretary of his local Pharmaceutical Committee and has held prescribing advisor posts in Health Authorities, PCTs and CCGs.  Since moving to Leeds in 2004 Tony has specialised in medicines safety supporting social services, community services, pharmacy and general practice to implement safer medicines systems.

Tony currently works part-time for the AHSN Improvement Academy and also works across the three Clinical Commissioning Groups in Leeds supporting the commissioning of services such as anticoagulation and the management of patient safety at transitions of care.  He is a passionate advocate for optimising the implementation of NICE approved medicines and the use of Human Factors theory to improve patient safety.
